Medication Disposal

Surplus & Expired Medication Disposal

In order to reduce the supply of surplus prescription and over-the-counter medication which could potentially harm children, teens and adults; the El Mirage Police Department has established a permanent MedReturn drug collection program.

Many times abused prescription and over-the-counter medications are obtained from surplus or expired items being stored within the home medicine cabinet. It is also hazardous to flush these drugs as they can be harmful to our water table.  Furthermore, Arizona ranks 6th highest in the nation for individuals 12 years and older misusing and abusing prescription drugs.

The Rx drop box is available year-round to the public, providing the El Mirage community with a convenient, anonymous and accessible means to safely and securely dispose of unused and expired medication.

The drop off location is available for use 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week:
