Michael R. Long, MBA, MPA, CPM, Fire Chief
A 35-year veteran of the fire service, Chief Long, began his firefighting career as a volunteer in Huntsville, he served as a firefighter, hazardous material technician, aircraft rescue firefighter, fire instructor, fire inspector, fire investigator and a fire prevention officer.
In addition to his firefighter career, Chief Long served 21 years in the United States Air Force and the Alabama Air National Guard as an air traffic controller, retiring in 2001 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant.
Chief Long holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and masters’ degrees in public administration and business administration. In addition, he has attained certifications in city management and fire marshal services. He also is a member of several professional organizations including the International Fire Marshals Association and the Arizona Fire Marshals Association.
Chris Richardson, Assistant Fire Chief
Chief Richardson has over 26 years of emergency medical experience as a firefighter, officer and paramedic including 22 of those years in El Mirage. He also was the first Paramedic that was sponsored by the El Mirage Fire Department over 16 years ago.
Mr. Richardson is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration with an emphasis in Arson Investigations from Columbia Southern University. Mr. Richardson is married with two children.
