Fire - Chief DeChant 
  Chris DeChant, Fire Chief
Mr. DeChant served 23 years at the Glendale Fire Department. He functioned as an Operations Captain, Special Operations Captain, Division Chief of Special Operations, Division Chief of Training and Emergency Medical Services and Deputy Chief prior to being appointed as the Assistant Fire Chief in 2008.


Mr. DeChant has managed various sections of the fire department including budget, personnel, planning, logistics and operations. He holds a Bachelor Degree of Science, Public Safety Administration and a Master Degree of Education, Educational Leadership. He was awarded his Chief Fire Officer designation in 2007 by the Center for Public Safety Excellence, his Executive Fire Officer designation by the National Fire Academy in 2013, and his Certified Public Manager certification by the Arizona State University Bob Ramsey Executive Education Program in 2017. 

Mr. DeChant currently serves as the International Public Safety Association Board Vice-Chair which is a non-profit public safety association that represents law enforcement, fire service, telecommunications, EMS, public works (water, sanitation and transportation), public health, hospitals, security, private sector and emergency management.

Fire - Richardson 
 Chris Richardson, Assistant Fire Chief

Mr.Richardson is the Assistant Chief for the City of El Mirage Fire Department. He believes in dedication and loyalty. He has worked for the City of El Mirage for the past 20 years, starting as a reserve firefighter and advancing through the ranks of the department.

Mr. Richardson believes in providing the community with top notch Fire and Emergency medical services. With over 20 years of experience as a firefighter and officer, he has been dedicated to helping the department progress from a combination fire department to a Full Time Paid Professional Fire Department

Mr. Richardson was the first Paramedic that was sponsored by the El Mirage Fire Department. He has been a Paramedic for the past 15 years and has over 25 years of total Emergency Medical Experience.

Mr. Richardson is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration with an emphasis in Arson Investigations from Columbia Southern University.  Mr. Richardson is married with two children.
